Ticket To Work
St.Michael’s Harbour is an Employment Network (EN) and we contract with Social Security to provide free services to beneficiaries under the Ticket program. As an EN we can work together to develop a plan that is just for you. The plan defines your employment goals and describes the specialized services we will provide to help you meet your goals. St. Michaels Harbour provides career counseling, job seeking, job placement, and ongoing support services under the Ticket program.
Why Ticket to Work?
If you receive disability benefits from Social Security, then you know that getting those benefits took time, energy, and patience. In determining your eligibility for disability benefits, Social Security found that you could not earn enough money to support yourself. With the right opportunities and supports however, many people can earn a higher standard of living by going to work and leaving benefits.
Am I eligible?
You became eligible to participate in the Ticket to Work program when you started receiving SSDI or SSI benefits based on disability. Everyone ages 18 through 64 who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits because of their disability, is eligible to participate in the Ticket to Work program.
Do I have to pay?
The Ticket program is free and voluntary and exists specifically to help people with disabilities progress toward financial self-sufficiency.
Will I lose my benefits?
The Ticket program and Work Incentives allow you to keep your benefits while you explore employment, receive vocational rehabilitation, or gain work experience. Cash benefits often continue throughout your transition to work and are eliminated only when you maintain a level of earnings, known as Substantial Gainful Activity.
